How PNW Insurance Group Came to Be
This might sound like a corny "line" but it is really how PNW Insurance came to be. It started with three people who really loved what they do but wanted to do it in their own way and provide as much as possible to the communities around us. We are now so fortunate to have a fantastic team to help us on this endeavor. Below, is some background info about us, the founders of PNW Insurance Group! Kim Peters
I am a teacher at heart. I started my teaching career right out of college teaching Physical Education and Health in Port Angeles, WA. Then, I wanted to be closer to the big city, so I accepted a teaching and coaching position at Skyline High School in Sammamish, WA in 1997.
I must say, I was surprised at the cost of living increase when I moved to Issaquah. That led me to work two jobs teaching by day and working insurance by night. I enjoyed educating people about insurance so much, that I decided to leave teaching in 1999 and pursue my own insurance agency with Farmers Insurance.
Being in the insurance industry, I realized how many people really don’t know about insurance and I made it my mission to take the time to educate my clients about insurance and how it will protect them in case of a catastrophic loss. For this reason, In 2014 we started PNW Insurance Group, LLC to be able to run our agency based on Education first, Not the SALE. We take pride in knowing we are locally owned and a part of our communities in which we work, live and play!
My partner and I live in Bonney Lake, WA. We have a beautiful daughter named Evin. We currently have 4 dogs, Cole, Harlo, Larry and Jake. More about Kim
Michelle Hancock
My start in insurance was a long, long time ago - my older sister worked for a local State Farm agent and I needed a job after school, just wanted a little of my own spending money so I went to work there, as a "file" clerk.
Not thinking about a career at that point just what job could I get that was close to my house! I guess it stuck! Over 30 years later I'm still in insurance! In 2012 I was laid off after a company buyout of the agency I had worked with for 20+ years and I headed out on my next adventure. All of those years gave me some fantastic experience, and some great friends and relationships. I came away from it realizing a passion of mine is helping others on their journey.
It was right about then I was fortunate enough to meet Kim Peters and Ryan Stueber. We worked together at an agency when we realized we wanted a different way of doing business, and we wanted to make the choices of what happened with the agency and its clients. PNW Insurance Group was born in 2014!
My role here is strategy, planning, operations and really whatever I can do to help the team. I have been married for nearly 30 years now and have two incredible daughters and was recently blessed enough to have a fantastic Son-in-law join our family! I am a huge fan of animals and we have 2 cats and 2 dogs!
Ryan Stueber
I grew up outside of Portland Oregon before coming to Tacoma for College at the University of Puget Sound in 1998. After meeting my wife to be, Mary at school I decided to stick around after graduation and got a job doing sales and marketing for a local cleaning company.
After getting married in 2004, We bought our first home in Auburn in 2006 and lived there for 15 years. In 2010 I found myself looking for a career change and decided to give insurance a try. After working for a local American Family Insurance agent for a year I decided that I really liked the ability to help people but needed a better platform to do so. So in April of 2011 I took a big risk and opened my own independent insurance agency.
In 2014, I joined Kim & Michelle and we moved forward with PNW Insurance Group. Our goal is to bring more value to our clients and help each other build the agency and contribute in the communities around us.
Today Mary and I live in Maple Valley, WA with our two kids, four goats, one sheep, twenty-five twenty-six chickens and two cats. We love the country life and are passionate about our animals, cooking, gardening and being out in nature. I run daily and compete in local trail running races and plan to run a 50 mile race this summer.
What I enjoy most about the vision that we’ve built at PNW Insurance group is that we are passionate about educating and advocating for our clients. It is hard to understate the value that this brings to our clients when they have something bad happen and need us the most. We have the ability to change people’s lives through careful guidance and counseling.

We are fortunate. Fortunate that our insurance paths all crossed allowing us to meet and embark on this journey together.
